Metal Stamping Process

Compared with forged piece, casting piece, stamping piece is more lighter, thinner but stronger. Metal stamping process could produce pieces with strengthening rebar, turnups etc which can hardly handled by other processing way. Since precision mould is used, the precision of pieces could reach to um level with high efficiency to make uniform specification, such as to stamp holes, to raise surface etc.
Generally, there’s no need to cut cold sheet metal stamping piece, or if necessary, only a little. Compared with cold stamping piece, precision and surface condition made by hot stamping process is worse, but still better than forging piece and casting piece.
Stamping is effective: it adopts multiple mould, which enables to make several stamping process on one pressing machine, uncoiling, flattening, cutting, forming and calibrating could be processed automatically. With high efficiency, better working condition, low cost, hundreds of pieces could be made out per minute in general.
According to different processing, metal stamping could be classified into separating process and forming process. Separating is also called cutting, its purpose is to cut out expected shape from sheet metal, meanwhile assuring quality of the cutting edge. Purpose of forming process is to form designed shape and size by mould without any deformation of steel plate. In daily work, usually multiple processing is integrated to be used on one piece. Cutting ,bending, flattening, bulging, spinning, calibrating are the main stamping process. The surface and property of the sheet metal play a key role in quality of the finished stamping piece, thus requiring the raw material to have accurate thickness; clean surface, unspotted, scarless, no scratching, no cracks etc. The yield strength should be uniform, no obvious directivity; and with high elongation, low yield ratio.
In production procedure, similar processing test such as flattening test, bulging test etc is performed to test the stamping property of material so that to guarantee quality and qualified rate.
The accuracy and structure of mould directly affect the formation and precision of stamping piece. Manufacturing costs and life of mould are key factors to costs and quality of stamping piece. We have experienced mould engineer – Mr Zhao, who help to design mould and innovated punch press machine.
The standardization of die holder, die-set, guiding element and development of easy mould (used for small quantity), multiple mould, multi-position progressive mould (used for large quantity ) and development of QDCS could effectively reduce preparation time of stamping processing
Feature of metal stamping process
Metal stamping is processed by stamping sheet metal in mould to form into certain size, it features in :
- Metal stamping products is made with low consumption of material, but is stronger. And after formation, the internal structure and intensity of metal get improved.
- Stamping product has better accuracy on size, and keep uniform with mould. So metal stamping products could be used directly with no further processing under normal conditions.
- Under stamping process, there is no change of surface of material, so it has good surface, which ensures convenience conditions to do surface coating, galvanizing, electroplating, parkerising etc.
